First Words

"Bye-bye."
Usually accompanied by a wave of the hand, this is used to mean "hello," "hey, look at me on the subway platform, stranger!," "good bye," and "good night." He's been saying it since mid-November.

"Uh-oh."
Usually said when something falls down, or something is mysteriously wrong in baby world. Started around Christmas.

"Achoo!"
Often accompanied by gestures of nose-blowing and full-on head banging sneezing. In response to someone sneezing, or if he feels it is time for a laugh. Also dates to Christmastime.

"Apple."
On Christmas Day, this meant apple. A few days later, it also meant carrot and pear. The next day, its meaning included frittata, water, and mama's milk. Oh yeah, an all-purpose food word!

Others claim that he also says Mama and Dada, but we've never seen evidence that he uses those sounds to mean us. Who knows?
